Indian Cookery – Course 1

This course is aimed at people with little or no Indian cookery skills.

Are you fed-up with cooking out of a jar or packet & would like to produce tasty & healthier options by cooking Indian food from scratch. More information….

We will discuss basic essential equipment and ingredients & where to buy it cheaply.

How to prepare in advance & store some of the ingredients in preparation for making the meals on the recipe sheets

Cake Decorating – Course 1


This course is aimed at people with little or no cake decorating skills. More information….

Week 1 - Cupcakes: basic decoration using buttercream and piping bags and simple decorations.

   DCFL will supply the Cup Cakes for this session.

 

Week 2 - Large cakes: levelling, layering, preparing and covering a round cake (and board) with Sugar Paste. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN CAKE IN FOR THIS SESSION or YOU CAN DECORATE ONTO A DUMMY CAKE. A real cake is preferred for this class to get the feel of decorating a real cake.

 

Week 3 - Flowers and lettering: use of cutters and moulds to create basic flowers eg blossoms, hydrangea, simple unwired roses and lettering for cakes out of Sugar Paste.


Week 4 - Modelling figures: a chance to make some simple animals (possibly with a winter/festive theme) items out of modelling paste.

 

Week 5 - Creation week: a chance to put your new skills into practice > by creating a project of your own. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN CAKE/S IN FOR THIS PROJECT.

Basic Cooking Skills or Cooking for Men

This course is aimed at people with little or no cooking skills. More information….

On the course you will learn


Basic cooking skills in food preparation & food hygiene.

We will discuss basic essential equipment and where to buy it cheaply.

We aim to cook two or three dishes in a session and will ensure they are both sweet and savoury.

We will cover dishes such as chicken pie, fruit crumble and vegetable soup.

The courses are fun and informal and everyone produces their own dishes, some of which are cooked on site and some go home to be cooked.


 BASE MEALS AND LEFT OVERS


 This course is aimed at people with little or no cooking skills. More Information……

On the course you will learn

We will cover base dishes such as a base mince for dishes such as shepherd’s pies or bolognaise.

We will also be able to demonstrate what we can do with leftover food.

We will look at what foods we should not be reheating

The courses are fun and informal and everyone will be able to show and demonstrate how to produce their own dishes at home.
